Privacy Policy

1. About this page

This policy is maintained by the developer of FS Player to explain, transparently, how the app handles user information. App data stays on your Mac, except when you choose features that rely on online services.

2. Local library data

FS Player is designed to play audio files already stored on your Mac. We do not collect, store or transfer your music library to our servers. Information about tracks, albums, artwork and playlists stays on the device.

  • Audio files: local read access only.
  • Metadata and artwork: saved in the app or read from the files.
  • Playlists and listening queue: persisted locally between sessions.

3. Online metadata lookup

Online metadata lookup is optional and turned off by default. When enabled, the app may query public services to fill in missing information such as artwork or album details. Only the terms required for the query are sent, with no personal identifiers.

4. Optional Stream

The Stream feature lets you mirror and control playback already running in Apple Music or Spotify using the FS Player interface. The corresponding app must be installed, running and authorized for automation on macOS. FS Player does not access your accounts on those services and does not store their credentials.

  • Apple Music and Spotify are independent services with their own policies.
  • Control happens locally, through automation permitted by the system.

5. No account required

The local version of FS Player works without signing up. We do not require an email, name or any identifier to use the free local library.

6. macOS services and integrations

The app uses native macOS features such as system media controls, media keys and Now Playing. These integrations are processed locally and follow Apple's privacy policies.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app. The date of the latest revision appears at the top of the page. We recommend checking it periodically.
